Rainbow collage craft for kids
A fun, colourful craft to help little hands practise sorting, colour recognition and fine motor skills!
✂️ What You'll Need:
-
A paper plate (or use our free printable rainbow template)
-
Child-safe glue stick
-
Coloured paper scraps or craft materials in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple
(Tissue paper, foil, magazine clippings, felt – whatever you have!) -
Black marker to draw rainbow lines and label the colours (optional but helpful)
🎨 How to Make It:
-
Prepare your base:
Use a marker to draw 6 curved lines across a paper plate and label each section with a colour name to help your child match the scraps. Alternatively, download and print our free rainbow template on A4 to letter paper. -
Set up the scraps:
Sort your paper pieces into small bowls by colour – this makes it easier for kids to find what they need. -
Glue it down:
Starting with red on the outside, let your child glue scraps into the matching rainbow sections. Work your way through orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. -
Let it dry:
Once complete, leave it to dry for a few hours, cut a paper plate in half to form a rainbow arch before displaying proudly on the fridge or wall! .
💡 Tips:
-
Encourage your child to talk about each colour and what items they can think of that are that colour.
-
This craft is great for building hand strength and practising glue control.
-
Older kids can cut their own scraps too!
